Song of the Day 4.10.12

It's always interesting to listen to a song and listen to the lyrics. When I was younger I would listen to songs mainly for the beat of the song. However, over time I have enjoyed the beat but have also listened closely to lyrics too. Some bands can insight thought provoking lyrics, and others can be more straight forward. This song is a little unsettling at times. The music is great, but the lyrics tell a story that isn't for the faint of heart. La Dispute has taken a scenario (in this case a shooting) and retells the whole story. The lyrics have no rhyme or meter, but they are very poetic. Think beat poetry set to music. Off their newest album Wildlife here is La Dispute with King Park

Song of the Day 4.9.12

Last night I went to a show that had La Dispute as the headliner with Balance and Composure, All Get Out, and Sainthood Reps. All bands were great live, and I did not leave empty handed. I bought a record for all bands, and All Get Out's CD because they didn't have the vinyl. However, I did meet the whole band and got them to sign it. I have showcased All Get Out on here quite a bit. Today I am going to go with Sainthood Reps. This was a band that I wasn't that into when I first heard them. However, after last night my perspective completely changed. They closed with the song Widow, which was and amazing finish. So here they are today off their album Monoculture here is Sainthood Reps with Widow

Song of the Day 4.8.12

Tonight I am going to a show that should be pretty good. La Dispute headlines with opening acts All Get Out, Balance and Composure, and Sainthood Reps. I have been listening to all bands quite a bit to get familiar with their stuff. And I keep listening to All Get Out a lot. I have posted them before, but today I will pick a new song. Off their album The Season, here is All Get Out with Me and My Lovers

Song of the Day 4.7.12

Here's a pretty cool song from a band called Sharks. Off their debut album No Gods here is Sharks with Til The Wonders Rise

Song of the Day 4.6.12

I will eventually be moving this blog to posting in the morning that way I don't forget about it when it comes to the night time. Like tonight I did it again. Another quick write up yet again, but I hope that you enjoy this song from Jason Aldean off his My Kind of Party album. Here is Jason Aldean with Dirt Road Anthem

Song of the Day 4.5.12

Today was opening day for most of baseball including my beloved Padres. I went to the game and spent the entire day downtown around the ballpark. The atmosphere is great and I always love going to a game. Unfortunately they lost, but that's why we play 162 games. To honor opening day today and all of baseball here is John Fogerty with Centerfield

Song of the Day 4.4.12

One of my favorite artists recently has been Tom Waits. The raspy voice and jazzy sound to his music is amazing. Along the same lines is Mark Lanegan Band. I'm pretty tired, so if I have posted about them recently I apologize. If not then I hope you are enjoying some new music. Off their newest album Blues Funeral here is Mark Lanegan Band with The Gravedigger's Song

Song of the Day 4.3.12

I heard a new band today that I really like. It happens all the time, but this time was in a record store and it was on. The last time I did that, it was Tom Waits who was playing and I fell in love. This time it is a band called The Men. Their new album Open Your Heart is superb. Jam rock with a hint of punk vocals in there as well. I highly recommend this album to anyone that enjoys great music. Here is The Men with Please Don't Go Away

Song of the Day 4.2.12

I have been distracted from this blog lately. And I have not been putting my attention into it. Tonight I am going to give you a song that makes me think of my new beautiful girlfriend Michelle. Here is Stevie Wonder with Isn't She Lovely

Song of the Day 4.1.12

I think I should go with a fitting song today as it is "April Fools" day. I'm tired and don't feel like writing a lot though. So here is Manchester Orchestra with April Fool
